The causes of arthritis pain are a many. However, the most common reason is inflammation of synovial membranes and tendons or muscle strain and fatigue. It is also another commonly known fact that the arthritis pain ranges greatly from person to person. Therefore, sufferers and doctors have been in a constant struggle from time unknown to relieve and ease the pain experienced by people suffering from arthritis. So our focus today is such alternative method of relieving pain, known as Tai Chi.
Tai Chi originates from martial arts and is known as an amazing exercise which consists of graceful and deliberate sequences of movements. The purpose of Tai Chi is to reduce stress and bring about relaxation by balancing out the universal energy Ying and Yang. As per the name, Tai refers to a culture from the Eastern part of the world and Chi refers to life’s vitality or the spirit energy that surrounds us.
In order to benefit from Tai Chi it is important to get the support of a Tai Chi professional or become educated about the subject from an authentic Tai Chi master. Tai Chi itself is a vast subject matter; however for the purpose of relieving pain in people suffering from arthritis, ‘the moving meditation’ method is known to be the most effective.
Although it is called moving meditation or as it is called sometimes, meditation in motion does not require any strenuous physical exercise. There’s no need to jump around or do aerobics, no running or walking about in hurry, no hard and fast rules or any vigorous activity. Moving meditation is all about having the feet firmly rooted on the ground (preferably a field of grass or a wooden floor without wearing slippers or shoes) while moving your arms and torso in a graceful sequence like a poetical dance. While one exercises these movements, your mind is set free in a meditational trance. Once the mind and body merges in a perfect synchronization, the person practicing Tai Chi will feel the energy from the universe flowing throughout the body.
In simple words, what is meant by Tai Chi meditation in motion is another form of meditation that draws your attention to those graceful energies around us, which our conscious minds are usually unaware of. By making conscious efforts to be in touch with universal energies, not only are we able to understand different dimensions of life but we are also able to attain high levels of spiritual growth while relieving stress and becoming relaxed.
