In almost any type of disease that we might have, there is a specialist that takes care of that particular problem. For those that are suffering from rheumatic illness, particularly from arthritis, a rheumatologist is the specialist that would be able to take care of your issues. Even though they may be able to take care of your problems, however, you might not be able to see them without a recommendation from your doctor. This is often the case with many specialists.
Of course, arthritis is not the only condition that these particular specialists will take care of. Even though rheumatic illnesses are their main concern, they may also treat various diseases and syndromes including Lyme disease, various types of back pain, gout, and fibromyalgia. As far as arthritis is concerned, they would be able to take care of psoratic arthritis, reactive arthritis and osteoporosis. If your child is dealing with one of these diseases, you may have to go see pediatric rheumatologist, one that has additional schooling and has been trained in order to handle arthritis cases and children. Their pediatrician will be able to give them a referral in order for them to be able to see the specialist.
