Fibromyalgia arthritis or FMS is a chronic disease that affects the whole body. It causes musculoskeletal pain and fatigue. Pain will be noticeable in muscles and around joints, also accompanied by fatigue. This disease can cause people to have trouble sleeping. This condition does not damage the joints. Fibromyalgia most commonly affects people between the ages of 20 and 50.

The actual cause of FMS is unknown; although there is quite a bit of research going on to try to identify the causes.

Fibromyalgia arthritis is not actually a condition, but the two are quite similar. Fibromyalgia will often result in pain similar to that of arthritis but without the joint damage. Pain with fibromyalgia can occur anywhere in the body. FMS is not really a form of arthritis, just closely related.

There are no known cures for FMS, however even though there is no way of curing FMS there are many possible treatments. These treatments offer relief from the symptoms FMS patients suffer from. There are many different medications used to treat FMS, these will be looked at in more detail a little later.

Fibromyalgia can result in tender sore spots anywhere on the body; these spots can cause difficulty when sleeping.

Although the actual cause of FMS still remains unknown, scientists have been able to reproduce similar affects by disrupting the sleeping patterns of healthy people.

Women are more likely to suffer from fibromyalgia than men, which could suggest a link between gender and the syndrome.

If somebody experiences widespread pain for over 3 months, then FMS is the suspected reason. People who suffer from FMS are often depressed, sometimes even resulting in clinical depression, while other patients may have trouble concentrating. Other symptoms include sensitivity to light and heat, sometimes the patient’s hands or feet may tingle or be numb.
